Reviews:
“A rush of fun, love, and life lessons that promises to be both amusing and uplifting” CANAL STREET MEDIA
“Excellent. A warm and lighthearted play” ⭐⭐⭐⭐ EVERYTHING THEATRE
“Izzy Searle’s writing is warm, witty, and playful” ⭐⭐⭐⭐ UPSTAGED MANCHESTER
Theatre:
My first professional plays were commissioned by The International Network of Italian Theatre and Warwick University.
My short play “Cereal For Dinner” was selected and performed by The Writing Shed in Doncaster. I was also chosen for Reload Theatre’s One Play One Day event at 53Two, where I had less than 12 hours to write a 15-minute play, which is how I wrote “Credit Where Credit’s Due”.
I was offered a place with Pentabus Young Company, where I developed a short play called “Baggy Bra” which was performed at The Courtyard, Hereford, Manchester School of Theatre (sold-out), and Rose Hill, Brighton (sold-out).
After this success, I expanded “Baggy Bra” ready for a UK tour. We partnered with the charity Against Breast Cancer and debuted at The Bridge House Theatre in London (sold-out). Then we were invited to perform at The Old Rep in Birmingham for Hysteria Festival, followed by a run at Squad House for the Greater Manchester Fringe, where “Baggy Bra” won “Best Comedy”. “Baggy Bra” is planning to tour the UK in 2024.
Publications:
My writing has been selected for publication by Lucent Dreaming, Streetcake Magazine, Substantially Unlimited, Re-Side, Discretionary Love, Olney Magazine, and Blue Marble Review.
Screenwriting:
I trained in Advanced Screenwriting at university and gained a First. During my placement with Feral Productions, I wrote, directed, and filmed nine short films in Sussex. I am currently working on a number of short film and TV scripts and I have written a series of comedy sketches which are currently in production.
Script Supervising:
I have worked as a script supervisor and assistant script supervisor for various film and TV productions, including Channel Four, Disney, Lucas Film, and several independent organisations. I was trained at Pinewood Studios through a ScreenSkills, GBCT, and BFI course delivered by Sarah Hayward.
Personal:
I am trained in a variety of genres but I am particularly drawn to writing work that is fun, warm, and meaningful, often with a grain of truth to it. When I’m not writing or on set, I like to hike and volunteer for youth organisations, providing opportunities for young people to go on adventures.
